BREAKING: Iron Dome Intercepts Gaza Rocket As Riots Rage In West Bank

Sirens sounded in southern Israel Friday evening as the country’s missile defense system intercepted a rocket over the city of Sderot, Haaretz reported.

Residents of the city had seconds to find shelter before seeing a hearing an explosion and seeing a bright light in the sky. No injuries were reported.

The rocket launch occurred as widespread rioting claimed injured hundreds in the West Bank, according to reports from Palestinian officials. The riots are part of a “Days of Rage” protest organized after President Donald Trump officially recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Three rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip toward Israel Thursday evening, with one landing in an unpopulated part of Israel. The Israeli military responded with retaliatory attacks. One Palestinian man was killed on the Gaza-Israel border early Friday.
