The Trump family is focusing their ire on White House Chief of Staff John Kelly over the continued negative media coverage of Jared Kushner, Axios reported Wednesday.
Axios quoted a White House official as saying, “Javanka and Kelly are locked in a death match. Two enter. Only one survives.” The source claims that the Trump family thinks Kelly “is hanging Jared out to dry.”
Kushner’s interim security clearance was downgraded on Tuesday, and reports emerged that foreign governments sought to manipulate him by taking advantage of his diplomatic inexperience and global financial ties.
Kushner’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, claimed that Kushner’s work will not be affected by the change in his security clearance, but the New York Times reported that his work, especially his foreign work, is expected to be curtailed.
“Fewer and fewer people are willing to defend” Kushner, Axios reporter Jonathan Swan wrote. “Politically, I’ve never seen him so exposed.”
