Missouri House passes bill barring Israel boycotters

(JTA) — The Missouri House of Representatives passed a bill that would prevent the state from doing business with some companies that boycott Israel.

The Anti-Discrimination Against Israel Act passed Thursday in a 95-40 vote. The state Senate had passed the measure last month in a 29-1 vote.

The bill advances to Gov. Mike Parson, a Republican, for his signature to become law.

Under the measure, companies that seek state government contracts must sign a document pledging not to boycott Israel in order to do business with Missouri. Companies with fewer than 10 employees or those with government contracts worth less than $100,000 are exempt.

Missouri is the 28th state to pass legislation against attempts to boycott Israel, according to The Associated Press.
