Netanyahu’s son accuses Gal Gadot of being neutral ‘as if she was from Switzerland’

The son of Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, lashed out at actress Gal Gadot in a tweet on Friday, and accused her of squandering her star power with a neutral tweet about the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Yair Netanyahu compared the Israeli actress, who stars in the 2017 and 2020 hit Wonder Woman films, to Palestinian American supermodels Bella and Gigi Hadid.

“The models of Palestinian descent, Gigi and Bella Hadid, with millions of followers, have been conducting antisemitic propaganda against Israel 24/7 since the beginning of the mess,” wrote the younger Netanyahu.

Bella Hadid has posted a handful of pictures in support of the Palestinian cause on her Instagram account over the last few days. Each garnered more than a million likes. And on Sunday she posted a video of herself at pro-Palestinian rally in New York.

Gadot, tweeting on May 12, called for peace and the safety for all of the conflict’s victims. Netanyahu implied that Gadot could have used her fame on social media to better serve her country.

“The only Israeli figure with the same number of followers and with the power of an international celebrity, who can give them a fight in publicity is Gal Gadot. She chose to write a neutral post as if she was from Switzerland,” Netanyahu concluded his tweet.

It’s not the first time the younger Netanyahu, who holds no elected office, has made waves on social media.

In a 2018 Facebook post, he opined that all Muslims must leave the land of Israel for Jews to live in peace, and also that Israeli media, NGOs and those on the political left were “traitors.”

More recently, he wished death by coronavirus upon those protesting his father’s attempts at a unity government in April of 2020.
