Local authorities arrested a man who Ohio Rep. Max Miller says threatened to kill him and his daughter on Thursday, calling him a “dirty Jew,” tailgating his car, and running him off the highway, according to the incident report.
The suspect, Feras S. Hamdan, 36, turned himself in at the Rocky River Police Department and is awaiting a court appearance, police said.
Miller told 911 that he had a weapon on him but was “glad I didn’t use it.” Here’s part of the 911 call:
On the 911 call, Miller said, “I was cut off by a man in a Tesla who held up a Palestinian flag to me and then rolled down his window and said that, ‘I’m going to cut your throat and your daughter’s.’ And he said, ‘You’re a dirty Jew.'”
Miller posted to X about the incident, saying, “As a Marine, a proud Jewish American and a staunch defender of Israel, I will not hide in the face of this blatant antisemitic violence,” Miller wrote.
Police did not locate the suspect’s vehicle or a flag, which they said may have been thrown out of the car.
A Republican, Miller was elected during the 2022 midterms. His grandmother, Ruth Miller, was also a congressional representative in Ohio. He has one daughter with his estranged wife, Emily Moreno Miller.
Police were called in February to a custody dispute between Miller and his estranged wife after Miller said that she would not leave his house. The two are now locked into a contentious divorce case with Miller subpoenaing Sen. Bernie Moreno, his father-in-law, and seeking financial information from the fellow Ohio Republican.
Miller previously dated Stephanie Grishman, White House press secretary during Trump’s first term, who claimed that Miller had physically abused her. He denied the claims and sued Grishman for defamation, though ultimately dropped the lawsuit.
A former Trump aide, Miller was appointed to the Holocaust Memorial Council by President Trump in 2020. He has promoted the false claim that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged” and said that “what happened on Jan. 6 was not an insurrection.”
Suspect is Cleveland-area doctor
A LinkedIn profile for Feras Hamdan, with a photo matching the mugshot provided by police, says he graduated from Cleveland State University and Medical University of the Americas, on the Caribbean island of Nevis, in 2017.
Hamdan appears to have had several medical-related jobs in the Cleveland area since graduating. In 2022, Molina Healthcare listed a Feras Hamdan as a primary care provider at Ashtabula County Medical Center, about an hour east of Westlake. The singular online review for what appeared to be Hamdan’s practice at Ashtabula described him as “very well-read.”
“Had an excellent experience with Doctor Hamdan,” the review stated. “Knew right away what my issue was and how to treat it. Professional and courteous.”
More recently, Hamdan appears to have worked for Health Express Urgent Care in Cleveland, where he provided telehealth services and received mixed reviews from patients. “What a waste of time,” one patient wrote on Healthgrades.com. “I would not see this physician ever again.”
The LinkedIn profile also lists Hamdan as director of C7 Research, a company that conducts medical trials. A staff listing for Hamdan on C7’s website appeared to have been removed.
Hamdan was sued in 2023 by a man who claimed that Hamdan “negligently operated his vehicle” and caused a crash by failing to yield. The case was settled last July but the terms were not disclosed in court records.
Hamdan has an ongoing lawsuit against a construction company that he claims he hired to help with the “build-out” of a business property but Hamdan says the company failed to “complete the work within the agreed-to timeframe.”
The company did not appear to respond to the lawsuit and a hearing for default judgement was held on Wednesday, the results of which are not clear from court records.
