L’Chaim To These Spritzy Cocktails For Hanukkah

Holiday Spritz

Yields one cocktail
1½ ounces gin
1½ ounces pomegranate juice
¾ ounce simple syrup
4-5 drops orange or angostura bitters
3 ounces dry sparkling wine, such as prosecco or cava
Rosemary sprig and cherry for garnish

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add gin, pomegranate juice, simple syrup and bitters. Shake vigorously for about 10 seconds.

Pour into a stemmed glass and top with sparkling wine. Garnish with rosemary and a cherry and serve.
Lemon Ginger Spritz

If you prefer to ignore the measurements below (and the math involved in creating a larger batch), the proportions for this drink are 1 part gin to 1 part lemon juice to ½ part simple syrup to 3 parts ginger ale.
Yields one cocktail

1½ ounces fresh lemon juice
¾ ounce simple syrup
3 ounces ginger ale
Fresh thyme sprig and lemon peel or candied ginger for garnish

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add gin, lemon juice and simple syrup and shake vigorously for about 10 seconds.

Pour into a stemmed glass and top with ginger ale. Garnish with thyme sprig and lemon peel or candied ginger (or all three) and serve.
