Jewish Republicans Take Aim at Liberal Synagogue Movement
As Nathan Guttman reported several weeks ago, leaders of Reform Judaism are considering a plan to oppose President Bush’s surge plan and call for a phased withdrawal from Iraq.
Now the Republican Jewish Coalition is working to derail the effort. It sent out an alert accusing leaders of Reform Judaism of attempting to “undermine U.S. efforts in Iraq”; the RJC is urging followers to block the synagogue movement – the country’s largest – from adopting the proposed antiwar position.
