Israel Policy Forum Names New Head
The Israel Policy Forum has picked David Elcott to be its new executive director.
Elcott, who has served as the American Jewish Committee’s director of U.S.interreligious affairs since 2003, is set to start in his new position June 15. He succeeds Jonathan Jacoby, the founding executive director of the New York-based IPF, who resigned in order to move to Los Angeles.
Marvin Lender, chairman of the IPF’s board, said in a statement: “Jonathan Jacoby has done an outstanding job for IPF since its inception. Getting David to succeed Jonathan is a real coup. David will bring enormous energy and intelligence to an organization that can make a real difference for Israel, the United States and Jews around the world.”
The IPF was founded in 1993 by a group of philanthropists and activists who felt that Jewish organizations were not doing enough to support American and Israeli efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East.
