Kadima Lawmaker Dichter Heckled at Brandeis

Israeli lawmaker Avi Dichter was heckled by protesters during a speech at Brandeis University.

Students from the group Brandeis Students for Justice in Palestine stood up as Dichter began speaking Tuesday during a panel discussion to an audience of several hundred students, and called him a war criminal in both English and Hebrew, Haaretz reported. The incident can be viewed on YouTube.

Dichter is a member of the Kadima party. He served as director of the Shin Bet Security Service during the second Palestinian Intifada.

The students, including Jewish and Palestinian students, chanted “Don’t worry Avi Dichter, we’ll see you at The Hague.” They accused him of committing war crimes for ordering the 2002 assassination of a Hamas terrorist; a bomb was dropped on the terrorist’s home, killing 15, including 9 children.

Dichter is currently visiting the United States with five other Israeli lawmakers from the Likud, Labor and Kadima parties to study American Jewish life as part of the inaugural Ruderman Fellows Program.
