Limmud Launches Program for Educators

Limmud programs across the United States are collaborating to create a new partnership for learning and professional development with Jewish education leaders across the continent.

Limmud, Anglo-Jewry’s flagship learning program, makes Jewish learning accessible to Jews around the world with its conferences that are gatherings for diverse Jews and educators.

The Limmud North America Community of Educators is a new partnership between Limmud NY, Limmud LA, Limmud Colorado and Limmud,. It will premiere at the Labor Day weekend’s LimmudFest at Ramah Darom, the Conservative movement’s summer camp in Clayton, Georgia.

“Limmud excels at creating spaces where different kinds of people can form connections that are not common in every day Jewish life,” said David Wolkin, Limmud NY executive director and national coordinator, of the initiative in a statement. “We are encouraging a community of educators with a sense of continuity beyond the Limmud experience.”

Throughout the year, educators will collaborate online, including learning sessions delivered by master educators/scholars, and become active co-creators in a national online community.

The three-year pilot project seeks to engage 300 Jewish educators through 2015. All will attend at least one of the partnering Limmud events, participating both in the educator track and the general program.
