Career Criminal With Link to Rapper 50 Cent Hunted in Deadly Hit and Run
Police were still hunting Tuesday for the hit-and-run driver who allegedly causing the deadly crash that killed an Orthodox couple as they headed to the hospital to deliver their first baby.
Suspect Julio Acevedo, 44, of Brooklyn is a career criminal who served eight years for manslaughter over a shooting death in Brooklyn, the Daily News reported.
“We have identified him and are looking to talk to him in connection with these deaths,” Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne told the paper.
The New York Post reported that Acevedo is an ex-con with a long rap sheet who shot a Brooklyn thug named Kelvin Martin, who was the inspiration for rapper 50 Cent’s stage name.
Acevedo was also arrested on Feb. 17 after he got into a road rage incident with a taxi driver in Brooklyn. He was charged with drunken driving and released on bail, police told the DNAinfo web site.
Acevedo is suspected of being behind the wheel of a BMW that slammed into a livery cab carrying Nachman and Raizy Glauber in Williamsburg just after midnight Sunday as they rode to the hospital.
The Orthodox husband and wife were both killed. Their newborn baby boy was delivered successfully but died Monday morning.
Acevedo is expected to face charges of murder and leaving the scene of an accident.
