Poland Gives High Honor to a Top Palestinian Official
WARSAW, Poland – The Palestinian Authority’s Minister of Information, Mahmoud Khalifa, was awarded the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, one of the highest honors that can be given to a foreigner.
Khalifa is a former activist of the Palestine Liberation Organization. For many years he lived in Poland and is a graduate of the University of Warsaw, with a degree in journalism. Aleksandra Bukowska McCabe, the Polish representative in Ramallah, the seat of the PA government in the West Bank, told the Polish Radio that Khalifa is actively involved in the promotion of Poland among the Palestinians.
“He tries to help me to show a good image of Poland in Palestine,” she said. “Recently we published together an article on the history of Polish soldiers during the Second World War who were with the army of Wladyslaw Anders in mandatory Palestine.”
Khalifa also cooperates with Polish diplomats on Polish aid projects sponsored by Polish Foreign Ministry.
