Op-eds should come with bias warnings, just like Twitter

Dear Editor,

Just as Twitter and Facebook now put up warnings or don’t allow certain posts I think you need to create a policy to inform your readers about the bias of the people providing articles in the Forward.

Mr. Hammer claims that Mr. Trump was the best president ever for Israel and that’s pretty hard to understand considering without Harry Truman, the UN would never have voted for Israel. And, if you look at the record critically, the IDF and Mossad both had high praise and lauded President Obama for his support of Israel.

Currently Iran has more nuclear material than they did when Obama was President and Trump did give Syria to Putin and Iran so the IDF is now fighting them every night to knock out weapon installations.

Perhaps Mr. Hammer should look beyond the new location of the embassy and realize Trump was not a force for positive change in the Mideast. His lack of commitment did drive the Gulf States to formalize their relationship with Israel.

I hope you appreciated this article. Before you go, I’d like to ask you to please support the Forward’s award-winning, nonprofit journalism during this critical time.

Now more than ever, American Jews need independent news they can trust, with reporting driven by truth, not ideology. We serve you, not any ideological agenda.

At a time when other newsrooms are closing or cutting back, the Forward has removed its paywall and invested additional resources to report on the ground from Israel and around the U.S. on the impact of the war, rising antisemitism and the protests on college campuses.

Readers like you make it all possible. Support our work by becoming a Forward Member and connect with our journalism and your community.

Make a gift of any size and become a Forward member today. You’ll support our mission to tell the American Jewish story fully and fairly.
