On Israeli Memorial Day, IDF Generals Remember Fallen Comrades
“We will never forget the heavy price we paid, the blood of our sons and daughters that fell to protect our homeland…and especially now, knowing the heavy price we’ve paid in war, we must do everything in our power to prevent losing those dear to us, our sons and daughters, to prevent the next war and to put an end to this conflict and bloodshed,” says former Mossad Director Major General Danny Yatom in a recently released video.
It’s hard to find a family in Israel that hasn’t lost loved ones while serving in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
On Yom Hazikaron (Israeli Remembrance Day), two IDF generals remember their fallen comrades and and look towards the future. Below, Watch Yatom and Brigadier General Giora Inbar share their stories.

In this age of misinformation, our work is needed like never before. We report on the news that matters most to American Jews, driven by truth, not ideology.
At a time when newsrooms are closing or cutting back, the Forward has removed its paywall. That means for the first time in our 126-year history, Forward journalism is free to everyone, everywhere. With an ongoing war, rising antisemitism, and a flood of disinformation that may affect the upcoming election, we believe that free and open access to Jewish journalism is imperative.
Readers like you make it all possible. Right now, we’re in the middle of our Passover Pledge Drive and we still need 300 people to step up and make a gift to sustain our trustworthy, independent journalism.
