AGE-OLD DREAM: Dina Noth, a 99-year-old resident of the Hebrew Home for the Aged, is set to make aliyah to Israel. “As far as we know, she’s the oldest person we’ve sent [to Israel] in the last 10 years,” New York-based aliyah emissary Boaz Herman told New York’s Jewish Week.

LET THEM EAT BEANS: Brooklyn’s Jewish Press interviews an Orthodox rabbi who said that all Israeli Jews can eat kitniyot during Passover. “The custom is Ashkenazic, and the halacha is that when a person leaves a locality where a certain custom exists and moves permanently to another locality where that custom is not the practice, he is no longer obligated to follow that practice,” Rav David Bar-Hayim tells the Jewish Press. The rabbi also tells the paper that the Temple should be rebuilt before the coming of the messiah.

STAFFLESS IN SEATTLE: The Northwest office of the Anti-Defamation League is a mess, with all but one staff member having left amid conflict with the national office, Seattle’s Jewish Transcript reports. “At this point, there’s no capacity to respond to discrimination complaints, and there’s no civil rights effort,” former regional director Robert Jacobs tells the Transcript. “There’s no staff to support it.”

FABRIC FETISH: An ultra-Orthodox Jewish “groper” who says he has a fetish for women’s coats is facing sentencing on a charge of sexual assault, London’s Jewish Chronicle reports. Accused of groping a woman’s genital area, he insists: “I was trying to touch her coat.”
