Holocaust Survivor Berated by Tel Aviv Bus Driver as Nazi

A Holocaust survivor was called a Nazi by an Israeli bus driver who mistook the passenger’s native Dutch for German.

Martin Leeda was on a bus to Tel Aviv last week with his wife, Jeta, when the driver heard them talking and started shouting that they were “goyim” and “probably Nazis,” Ynet reported Friday. The driver also reportedly closed the door purposely several times on Jeta Leeda’s arm.

The driver sent the couple a letter of apology and faces a disciplinary hearing, according to the Metropoline bus company.

Leeda, 74, moved to Israel after the Holocaust, during which he was imprisoned in three Nazi concentration camps. He lives part time in the Netherlands, where he works as a guide for the Jewish Historical Museum in Amsterdam, according to Ynet,
