Would You Try Pizza Brei?
Like 54 percent of our readers, I hate matzo. Sure, I eat my obligatory portions at the Seder, can be cajoled into eating it if topped with plenty of lox, cream cheese, tomato and avocado, and even begrudgingly can admit that matzo pizza is borderline delicious. But matzo brei, the weird Jewish Passover “treat” of crumbled matzo mixed with eggs and pan fried, has always grossed me out. Nope, not even a weed-infused potzo brei would convince me of its merits.
And then I watched this video, in which my Italian Jewish brethren top the eggy monstrosity with tomato sauce and mozzarella. It’s not quite matzo pizza and it’s not quite matzo brei:
I’m almost convinced to give it a try. What about you?
Let us know what you think:
You’ve had matzo pizza. You’ve had matzo brei. Would you try… matzo pizza brei? ???
