Reports: Strauss-Kahn Case Set To Be Dismissed
New York prosecutors plan to ask a judge Monday to dismiss the sex assault charges against former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn, several news outlets reported.
Manhattan District Attorney plans to withdraw the charges after questions rose about the credibility of the Nafissatou Diallo, the hotel maid who accused him of assaulting her in his plush Manhattan hotel room, the New York Times and other papers said Monday.
The onetime French presidential favorite was dragged off a Paris-bound plane as police investigated the maid’s claim of an attack at the Sofitel Hotel on May 14.
DNA evidence confirmed a sexual encounter. But the woman’s lies about her past made her a shaky witness, prosecutors decided.
The West African immigrant can still proceed with a civil suit against Strauss-Kahn.
