Nadia Haroun, Egyptian Jewish Leader, Dies
Nadia Haroun, deputy head of the Egyptian Jewish community, has died.
Haroun, sister of Magda Haroun, the current head of the Egypt’s Jewish community, suffered a heart attack late Thursday night, Al Ahram reported.
Haroun , a lawyer, was the daughter of Shehata Haroun, a prominent leftist activist who refused to emigrate to Israel, known for his opposition to the Camp David Accords. She is survived by a son and daughter.
Haroun’s funeral is planned for March 11 at Adly Synagogue in Cairo. The Jewish community in Egypt now has less than 100 members.
