Workboots That Leave Swastika Tracks Yanked by Company
Work boots or jackboots? That’s a question that a Reddit user raised after getting new shoes for his job, discovering that they left an imprint that closely resembled a swastika.
“There was an angle I didn’t get to see when ordering my new work boots,” the man wrote on Reddit, sharing a photo of the boot bottoms and the tracks they made.
The item, Polar Fox Boots from the Conal International Trading manufacturer, was purchased on Amazon. After the post went viral on Reddit, Conal announced that it would recall the product. It was unclear whether the boots would also be removed from Amazon’s online store.
But in the meantime, Redditers had fun with puns. “Very comfortable. Nein out of ten,” one punster wrote. “Good for marching into Poland,” another mused.
The discovery of the swastika boots comes amid worries that companies might soon try to pander to the ascendant “alt-right,” — the term preferred by contemporary white supremacists — with Wendy’s recently tweeting out an image of Pepe the Frog and a promotion agency for Cadillac seeking a “neo-Nazi” types for an ad.
