First Daughter and presidential advisor Ivanka Trump tweeted her disapproval of “racism, white supremacy and neo-nazis” on Sunday morning, one day after three people died due to clashes between white nationalist protesters and counter-protesters in Charlottesville, Va. — which her father, President Trump, seemed to blame on “many sides.”

“There should be no place in society for racism, white supremacy and neo-nazis,” wrote Trump. “We must all come together as Americans — and be one country UNITED. #Charlottesville.”

Around 500 white nationalists marched in Charlottesville to protest the removal of a statue of Confederate Robert E. Lee. Clashes broke out between the opposing sides; one counter-protester was killed and 19 more injured when a car driver rammed his vehicle into a crowd. Two Virginia state troopers monitoring the city from a helicopter died when it crashed into the ground.

Jews were subjected to extra abuse by the white supremacist marchers. Trump is Jewish.

President Trump was heavily criticized, including by Jewish groups and members of his own party, for seemingly to equally blame white supremacists and counter-protesters for Saturday’s events. The president said at an impromptu press conference from his New Jersey golf club on Saturday afternoon that he strongly condemned “this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides.”
