Why Did This Hip-hop DJ Get An Anne Frank Face Tattoo?

A young Los Angels hip-hop producer named Louis Gutierrez is showing off his new tattoo — a large portrait of Holocaust victim Anne Frank, dramatically covering half his face.
Gutierrez, who goes by the stage name ArnoldisDead, sparked some controversy with the move, The Jerusalem Post reported. But in an interview with a Vice journalist, Gutierrez explained that he meant well — and that it was an appreciation for Jewish history that led him to get the tattoo.

“There are people in history that didn’t have the power to control, to actually do things that they wanted to do with their lives,” Guiterrz said. “To be stuck in, like, a house, and end up dying and sh*t, dude I’m dying to make music. That’s the way I look at it. It’s very black and white.”
The 21-year-old said he remembers learning about the Holocaust in school. “Seeing like Jewish people come in, in my own classroom and seeing them talk about the Holocaust, like survivors… always stuck to me personally,” he said.
