Apple and Facebook Pull Alex Jones’ Conspiracy-Laded Content
Two major media brands removed content by radio and internet host Alex Jones, a notorious conspiracy theorist.
Apple pulled the majority of Jones’ Infowars work from iTunes and its podcast apps, and Facebook deleted four of his pages, the Daily Beast reported Monday.
Apple said it took down the entire library for five of his six podcasts, including the shows War Room and the daily The Alex Jones Show. Only one program under Infowars, RealNews With David Knight, was left on Apple’s services by Sunday night.
Facebook originally suspended his personal profile for 30 days in late July for what it said was bullying and hate speech. The four removed pages include the Alex Jones Channel Page, the Alex Jones Page, the InfoWars Page, and the Infowars Nightly News Page. Visiting any of these pages now shows the message: “Sorry, this content isn’t available right now,” according to the Verge.
Some of the Jones’ podcasts were removed by Spotify.
Jones is known for claiming that the Sept. 11 terror attacks on New York and Washington were staged by the government, as well as for his adamence that the 2012 Sandy Hook elementary school massacre was the work of left-wing activists working to promote gun control.
