Major Jewish groups create ‘emergency pandemic coalition’
Eight Jewish organizations, including some of the largest in the country, have formed an “emergency pandemic coalition” to coordinate relief work and information-sharing regarding people in the Jewish community affected by the coronavirus outbreak and ensuing economic crash.
The coalition, which will collaborate on fundraising, aiding laid-off Jewish communal professionals and coordinating the provision of resources, is comprised of umbrella groups that oversee more than 1,000 institutions around the country. Led by the Jewish Federations of North America, the coalition also comprises BBYO, Foundation for Jewish Camp, Hillel International, JCC Association of North America, Moishe House, the Network of Jewish Human Service Agencies, and Prizmah: Center for Jewish Day Schools.
“By coming together to coordinate our response across the Jewish community, we will ensure that we are not duplicating efforts or wasting resources that can best be put toward those most in need,” JCC Association of North America CEO Doron Krakow said in a statement.
