A Grand Ol’ Flag

There are many things to see in Israel — the Western Wall, Masada, the beaches of Tel Aviv — and now there’s one more site to behold: a national flag the size of two football stadiums. Last week, the Guinness World Records book declared this new Israeli flag to be the largest in the world. The massive banner was presented to Israel, along with a large flag of the Philippines, by Sister Grace Galindez-Gupana to commemorate 50 years of diplomacy between the two countries.

The Guinness book has noted several other amazing feats that were achieved this year: The largest bowl of porridge was 179 pounds, 14 ounces; the longest karaoke marathon by an individual lasted 38 hours and 30 minutes, and the heaviest weight lifted by glue was a 9,127.14-pound Ford pickup truck.
