Private Funeral Held for Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse’s family held a private funeral for the troubled Jewish soul singer, who was found dead on Saturday at the age of 27.

The Jewish service, which included prayers in English and Hebrew, ended with a rendition of So Far Away by Carole King, Winehouse’s favourite song, according to The Guardian.

Mitch Winehouse said a eulogy for his late daughter, which included stories about her childhood and the wish that she was now in a better place.

He ended with the words: “Goodnight, my angel. Sleep tight. Mummy and Daddy love you ever so much,” the paper said.

Among the guests at the service were producer Mark Ronson and singer Kelly Osbourne.

The family will hold a two-day shiva for Winehouse, who battled drug and alcohol addiction for years.

An autopsy failed to determine the cause of Winehouse’s death.
