Slain Cleveland Jewish Nurse’s Family Doubles Murder Reward to $50K

The family of Aliza Sherman, the Cleveland nurse murdered in March, has doubled the reward to identify her murderer to $50,000.

“I know that there is somebody out there that knows something about this,” said Aliza’s daughter, Jennifer Sherman at the press conference announcing the new reward. “I just encourage that person or those people to please do the right thing.”

Sherman’s shocking murder, which occurred in broad daylight on March 24, left her Jewish community reeling the day before Passover. Her divorce trial was set to take place on March 26, and her husband hired a criminal defense attorney, but the police have not named him as a person of interest.

Though there is video footage of the incident, police say that it provides no leads on Sherman’s assailant, as video enhancing has not been able to identify the race or gender of the attacker. The Cleveland Police Department has not identified any leads but hope that the doubled reward, the highest in recent memory according to Sergeant Dave Rutt, will loosen some tongues.

The $50,000 reward is being offered by Cuyahoga County Crime Stoppers. Anonymous information can be given to Crime Stoppers by calling 216-252-7463 or via text message. Text TIP657 and your message to Crimes (274637).

Anyone with information connected to the attack can contact the Cleveland Police Homicide Unit at 216-623-5464.
