The prosecutors concluded in 2006 that he was a “California Skinhead” and should be sentenced to the death penalty. The court now says that was wrong.
It is not even clear whether real estate investor Michael Reicher was actually Jewish.
“The man ruined a living family’s life. No one asked him to burn the body. Cruel beyond words. I believe he deserves a lot more.”
He is accused of firing at unsuspecting campers and motorists since November 2016.
“It’s been a long haul. They’ve been evading arrest, evading the law, evading taking responsibility and pretending they had nothing to do with it.”
Local residents fear his death might be part of a killing spree.
A traditional Jewish memorial was held for Karyn Kramer, described as a helpful, energetic neighborhood parent.
“She then appeared from the kitchen with a kitchen knife, went right over to her and stabbed her in the chest,” the detective lieutenant said.
“I only have good things to say,” a colleague said. “As an African-American, I felt a little out of place, but I wanted to be part of his home-going.”
The causes of death for the two persons of interest, identified as the doctor’s sons from his first marriage, were ruled as suicides.
