‘The Marvelous Mrs Maisel’ Makes For The Catskills In The Season 2 Trailer

The dumped-but-unsinkable Mrs. Maisel heads to the Catskills and High Holiday services in a trailer for hotly anticipated second season of the hit Amazon show.

The candy-coated, wise-cracking “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” sailed smoothly into Jewish diasporic hearts and minds in March 2017 and lodged there comfortably, apparently set to remain central to the American Jewish narrative as long as it shall be told. The show, by “Gilmore Girls” creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, goes beyond normal latkes-and-bagels Judaism to some deep cut cultural baggage, though all of it is packaged in peppy, hygienic Hollywood backlot perfection.

The very Jewish show marketed at not-at-all Jewish people and starring a not-at-all Jewish actress named Rachel picked up a marvelous set of Golden Globes (for best comedy series and best comedic actress for Brosnahan,) and the series was renewed for a third season before a whiff of the second one was released. We’ll see if it shapes up to its mini-legacy…soon. Amazon Prime hasn’t released a date, they’ve only offered a teaser. Just like a proper Upper West Side lady.

I hope you appreciated this article. Before you go, I’d like to ask you to please support the Forward’s award-winning journalism this Passover.

In this age of misinformation, our work is needed like never before. We report on the news that matters most to American Jews, driven by truth, not ideology.

At a time when newsrooms are closing or cutting back, the Forward has removed its paywall. That means for the first time in our 126-year history, Forward journalism is free to everyone, everywhere. With an ongoing war, rising antisemitism, and a flood of disinformation that may affect the upcoming election, we believe that free and open access to Jewish journalism is imperative.

Readers like you make it all possible. Right now, we’re in the middle of our Passover Pledge Drive and we still need 300 people to step up and make a gift to sustain our trustworthy, independent journalism.

Make a gift of any size and become a Forward member today. You’ll support our mission to tell the American Jewish story fully and fairly.
