Aussie Prankster Finds Club That Won’t Have Him as a Member: The KKK
On his new Sundance show “John Safran vs. God,” John Safran travels to America to join the Ku Klux Klan. But he finds it’s not easy convincing a KKK Grand Dragon to admit a Jew, no matter how non-practicing or self-loathing he may profess to be.
My favorite part of their exchange:
SAFRAN: Wasn’t there a time when the Klan didn’t let Catholics in?
GRAND DRAGON: Yes.
SAFRAN: Do you foresee a time in the future when they’d let Jews who hated Jews in?
GRAND DRAGON: No, I don’t really see that happening.
SAFRAN: Well, isn’t that a bit discriminatory?
GRAND DRAGON: Well, yes, we are a discriminatory organization. Let me make that perfectly clear: We’re racist, white supremacist and bigots.
