SURPRISE: Israeli Arabs More Confident In State Than Jews: Poll
Israel’s Arab citizens are more confident in Israel’s situation than Jews are, according to a new poll conducted by the Israel Democracy Institute.
The poll, released ahead of Israeli Independence Day, found that 66% of Arabs see Israel’s overall situation as “good” or “very good” compared with 43.9% of Jews.
Jews were more hopeful about Israel’s future, with 73% saying they were optimistic about Israel compared to 61% of Arabs.
The poll also found that more than half of Arabs in Israel (51.1%) are proud to be Israeli, but that’s a far lower percentage than that of Israeli Jews who said they are proud to be Israeli (86.1%).
The poll also found that a majority of Jews (74%) and Arabs (57%) felt good about their personal situations.
However, both Jews and Arabs expressed little faith in their leaders. Just 5% of all Israelis think Israeli leaders are doing a good job responding to citizens’ needs.
The poll was conducted by phone interviews with 600 respondents from April 18 to 19.
