Has NC ‘Pridefest’ Solved Its Yom Kippur Scheduling Snafu?

When the date for this year’s North Carolina Pride parade — September 30 — was announced, it was met with backlash from the local Jewish community: That’s the same day as Yom Kippur. But now organizers of NC Pride’s 2017 Pridefest event have a solution for their scheduling snafu.
They just haven’t told people what it is yet.
Though the organization promised to spend the weekend of July 8-9 coming up with a solution, this week a Durham newspaper reported that details are still being finalized.
“Several of the events will be changed, and everyone will be able to attend. There will be changes to a number of events. Everyone will be able to attend our new schedule,” John Short, a spokesman for NC Pride, told the Herald-Sun.
“This will be a situation that everyone will be able to attend the events,” Short added.
