NYC Hate Crimes Target Jews More Than Other Groups Combined In 2018

Hate crime against Jews in New York City have grown in 2018, according to records from the New York Police Department.
As of Sunday, the NYPD has recorded 352 hate crimes, Patch reported. There were 331 this time last year, about a 6% percent increase.
Jews were the target of 183 of this year’s incidents, a 22% increase from the year before, according to the NYPD. It is an 38.6% increase from 2016.
Crimes against other minorities have increased this year, as well, the NYPD found, but together, they amount to less than the number of anti-Semitic attacks.
The Anti-Defamation League recently noted the spike as a national trend, finding that there have been multiple attempted attacks on synagogues in the wake of the deadly shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue in October. There also has been multiple instances of vandalism at synagogues and memorials around the country.
