Israeli, French Officials Express Shock Over Shooting Rampage
Israel and the French Jewish community expressed shock Monday over the attack on a Toulouse Jewish school that killed four and left one seriously wounded.
A spokesman for Israel’s foreign ministry, Yigal Palmor, expressed outrage at the killings.”We are following with great shock reports coming from Toulouse and we trust the French authorities will solve this crime and bring those responsible to justice.”
Opposition leader Tzipi Livni also responded to the attack and said, “The attack on the French Jewish school is shocking and painful. Israel and the Jewish people are partners in the struggle against anti-Semitism and hate crimes.”
Meanwhile. French Chief Rabbi Gilles Bernheim said he was “horrified” by the attack.
Did you know that only 2% of Forward readers donate to support our nonprofit newsroom? That 2% make it possible for millions to read the Forward without a paywall or subscription — removing any barriers to the full and fair Jewish story.
But while the Forward is free to read, it isn’t free to produce. Big stories — like deep dives into the antisemitism data, political scoops or reporting trips to college campuses — take months of research and fact-checking. All while we keep you informed of what you need to know each day.
