Before ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’, Rachel Bloom Was Just A (Very) Jewish (Very) Brilliant YouTube Star
Before she found fame and fortune as the creator and star of “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”, Rachel Bloom was just the musical theater kid you love to secretly hate to secretly love. And like any young woman with a dream, she had a thriving YouTube channel.
Bloom is best known for taking the piss out of Broadway music with songs like “Stupid Bitch” and “The Sexy Getting Ready Song” but the genius on display in every episode of “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” came from years of practice. The comedian isn’t shy about discussing her rich history of hilarious and totally-inappropriate-for-children musical parodies — she was most recently featured on an episode of “The Naked American Songbook” with Julian Fleisch, where she ate gluten-free matzah and discussed her obsession with Barbara Streisand.
We’ve culled a few of her deep cut hits for your viewing pleasure. Please enjoy, in this order, “You Can Touch My Boobies”, “Channukah Honey”, and “Historically Accurate Disney Princess Song.”
And for good measure, check out Bloom’s original musical based on the music of Sugar Ray.
