5 Colleges That Give You The Best Bang For Your Buck

College is expensive — but it doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg.

Members of the class of 2016 graduated with almost $40,000 in student loan debt each on average.

We understand that costs are an important consideration when picking a college or university for most families, and costs comprised 10% of our Jewish College Guide scoring. The following five schools place an even higher value on costs without sacrificing on quality — all are in the bottom quartile of our list in terms of sticker price and in the top half of our list in terms of overall ranking, making them the best bang for your buck.

And these schools aren’t just for locals — they exceed expectations by keeping costs low for both in-state and out-of-state students while maintaining high academic quality and thriving Jewish communities. But middle-class residents of New York state may have extra reason to rejoice: Governor Andrew Cuomo recently announced plans to waive tuition at the state’s public colleges for NY families making less than $125,000 per year. I, for one, can raise a Solo Cup to that.
