Ricky Ian Gordon is a composer and writer living in New York. His last book was Seeing Through: A Chronicle of Sex, Drugs and Opera, published by Farrar, Straus & Giroux, and his most recent opera, This House, written with playwright Lynn Nottage and her daughter Ruby Aiyo Gerber, premiered at Opera Theater of St. Louis last summer. It was just nominated for the International Opera Award for best new opera of 2025.
