Burglars Hit Home of Shamir’s Daughter
The house of Gilada Diamant Shamir, the daughter of Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir, who died Saturday at the age of 96, was broken into on Monday, while the family were attending his funeral in Jerusalem.
It is thought that two perpetrators broke into the home in Ramat Aviv, north Tel Aviv, shortly after the family left the home for the funeral. According to police, the perpetrators entered the house through the front door.
When Diamant Shamir returned to her home, she saw that the house was a mess, and that jewellery was missing. Police arrived at the house, along with a forensics team, who took fingerprints at the scene of the crime. Police are still investigating the incident.
The casket of former Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir was placed at the Knesset on Monday, giving Israelis the opportunity to pay their final respects.
