Man Blamed in New Mexico Deli Anti-Semitic Incidents Treated in Prison

A man being held in connection with two incidents of anti-Semitic vandalism at a Jewish deli in Albuquerque, N.M., has been ordered held in a federal prison hospital.

John Ng, 56, reportedly will receive treatment in the hospital at a prison in North Carolina. His attorney had argued that he is not a threat to society and would be more successful in treatment outside of prison, according to WKOB Channel 4 in Albuquerque.

Mailing labels with anti-Semitic slurs written on them were stuck to the front door of the Nosh Deli in late January and early February. The stickers also were pasted on parking meters and light poles on the block where the deli is located.

In the earlier incident, similar labels and messages, including “To the Kikes who should die,” were found on the deli’s front door.

Ng is charged with a federal hate crime for the incidents.
