Palestinian Woman Arrested in West Bank Car-Ramming Attack

JERUSALEM — A Palestinian woman was arrested by Israeli border police officers after she attempted to run over security forces as a West Bank checkpoint.
The woman, identified by police as a 34-year-old resident of Beit Hanina in eastern Jerusalem, stopped driving during the early Tuesday afternoon attack when police officers shot in the air, according to reports citing the Israel Police.
When the attacker exited the car at the Qalandiya checkpoint between Jerusalem and Ramallah it appeared that she was carrying a knife in her hand, according to police, and she shouted “Allahu Akbar,” or God is great, before she was arrested.
Police said they were able to arrest the woman “without harming her.”
“The officers fired warning shots in the air, and the female terrorist exited her vehicle with a knife and charged them screaming ‘Allahu Akbar,’” said police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld. “She was disarmed and arrested at the scene without being injured, and the area was temporary closed off.”
