White Nationalist Richard Spencer Doubles Down On ‘Hail Trump’ Salute

White nationalist and “alt-right” leader Richard Spencer is doubling down on his controversial “Hail Trump” salute in a “video tribute” of the speech on his new website Altright.com.

“I guess I forgot to apologize for saying ‘Hail Trump! Hail Our People! Hail Victory!’ and offending some people,” Spencer wrote on Twitter. “My bad.”

A dramatic score accompanies Spencer’s speech and an echo effect gives special emphasis to certain lines. As Spencer speaks about what he calls an “anti-white agenda,” visuals flash accross the screen: a cowboy galloping in a field, an astronaut, a child running along a dock.

“To be white is to be a striver, an explorer and a conquerer,” Spencer says. “For us, it is conquer or die.”

The speech was originally delivered in November to a crowd of hundreds in D.C. At the culmination of the speech, a number of attendees erupted in enthusiastic Nazi salutes. Spencer dismissed concerns surrounding the Nazi salutes, telling Haaretz that the salutes were done in the spirit of “fun and exuberance.”
