Steven Melnikoff, a 96-year-old Jewish veteran of World War II who fought on D-Day with the U.S. 29th Infantry Division, was honored by President Trump and other assembled dignitaries during an event in Paris.
Melnikoff, from Cockeysville, Maryland, had previously been honored by President Obama during his 2014 visit to the shores of Omaha Beach.
Trump was giving a speech at Les Invalides military complex, praising the history of cooperation between the United States and France.
“With us are three American veterans of D-Day. I’ve read so much about D-Day, very brave people,” Trump said.
