A new book will reveal the tensions brewing within the Trump family, which have spread to Jared Kushner and his well-known Modern Orthodox family.
“Born Trump,” an upcoming book by Vanity Fair journalist Emily Jane Fox, explores the First Family’s dynamics, arguing that understanding the children is the key to unlocking who President Trump really is. It doesn’t go on sale until July 19, but Fox revealed a few juicy sentences.
“Tensions between Ivanka’s husband, Jared Kushner, and brothers had also surfaced during the campaign. Eric told others during the run-up to the election that he felt Kushner, for his own gain, had taken advantage of some of the candidate’s weaknesses. Kushner’s family, likewise, had taken issue with their son, an observant Orthodox Jew, going to work on the Sabbath after the infamous Access Hollywood tape surfaced, according to a person close to the family.”
The book offers a detailed look into the lives of the president’s five children, as well as his son-in-law. It explores “their lives, their roles in the campaign and administration, and their dramatic and often fraught relationships with their father and with one another.”
Apparently, we will also learn why Ivanka and Jared are bashert.

Did you know that only 2% of Forward readers donate to support our nonprofit newsroom? That 2% make it possible for millions to read the Forward without a paywall or subscription — removing any barriers to the full and fair Jewish story.
But while the Forward is free to read, it isn’t free to produce. Big stories — like deep dives into the antisemitism data, political scoops or reporting trips to college campuses — take months of research and fact-checking. All while we keep you informed of what you need to know each day.
