Dodd: ‘I Made A Mistake’
Asked about his 2002 Iraq vote on Hardball yesterday, Sen. Chris Dodd took a different tack than “If I had known then what I know now” Hillary.
“I made a mistake,” Dodd told host Christ Matthews. “I know you’re not supposed to say that in politics.”
Asked about the situation in Iraq, Dodd said he was “skeptical” of reports of Iranian meddling and that as president, he would open up negotiations with the Syrians in order to get around Iran. (“We need a surge in diplomacy.”)
He didn’t bring up the question of a nuclear Iran.
Did you know that only 2% of Forward readers donate to support our nonprofit newsroom? That 2% make it possible for millions to read the Forward without a paywall or subscription — removing any barriers to the full and fair Jewish story.
But while the Forward is free to read, it isn’t free to produce. Big stories — like deep dives into the antisemitism data, political scoops or reporting trips to college campuses — take months of research and fact-checking. All while we keep you informed of what you need to know each day.
