Reporters’ Roundtable: Palestinian Statehood; Reporting Abuse; Kiryas Joel
In this week’s podcast, host Josh Nathan-Kazis is joined by opinion editor Gal Beckerman, Forward fellow Naomi Zeveloff and staff writer Paul Berger to discuss the upcoming United Nations vote on a possible Palestinian state, which is scheduled to occur in September. Then the group turns to an ongoing debate that has Orthodox rabbis arguing about the best way to handle allegations of child abuse in the Orthodox community. Lastly, the group discusses a lawsuit the aims to revoke recognition of the Hasidic town of Kiryas Joel in upstate New York, alleging that the town has become a “theocracy.”
