Uvshavtem mayim b’sason mimaynei hayeshua — joyfully, Mayim Bialik has once again visited the fountains of triumph and showered us with the sweet, sweet waters of Jewish tradition! Hallelu. Here are our top ten (there were hundreds) favorite things about her new video, “4 Things Jews Do On Rosh Hashanah”:
1.She always seems kind of grumpy and you can tell it’s because she’s so much smarter than everyone but it’s her duty to explain things to us and she takes that seriously
2.Wondering if Mayim B. drank that prop champagne later or what
3.She eats apples and AGAVE because she actually cares about the bees unlike you but she doesn’t rub it in
4.She has out of control shofar talent, or at least out of control sound effect people
5.Knowing that over 777,000 people watched Mayim Bialik say the phrase “gorgeous liturgical melodies”
6.Mayim Bialik and her a cappella quartet practicing al chet in a basement is the music I am going to walk down the aisle to
7.Mayim Bialik loves God!!!
8.Her earrings are working
9.The way she says “sweeeeet”
10.She wishes us a year of “more tolerance and bravery”. Ken y’hi ratzon, sister-friend.

You are surely a friend of the Forward if you’re reading this. And so it’s with excitement and awe — of all that the Forward is, was, and will be — that I introduce myself to you as the Forward’s newest editor-in-chief.
And what a time to step into the leadership of this storied Jewish institution! For 129 years, the Forward has shaped and told the American Jewish story. I’m stepping in at an intense time for Jews the world over. We urgently need the Forward’s courageous, unflinching journalism — not only as a source of reliable information, but to provide inspiration, healing and hope.
