Adam Lippes’ Fall Collection Was All About The Details

Jewish? His name sounds Jewish and he spoke at a Young Jewish Professionals event in 2010.
Held in Lippes’ new Brooklyn Heights showroom, the presentation format enabled the fabrics in the collection to remain the focus.
Indeed, when Lippes focused on print and its fabrication, that’s when this collection really took flight. A particular standout was a turtleneck, pussybow top and pleated asymmetric skirt in a rich plaid grounded in black and slashed in shades of sunset, with yellows, oranges and red. As was the coat and zip-up sweater look, pen-and-ink horses galloping across the wool surface.
But Lippes’ bread-and-butter is his ability to create wearable classics. Like his tailored blazers for day or his easy-yet-sophisticated velvet trousers in canary yellow for night.
And this collection was just that: easy, sophisticated and luxurious. Each piece was on-trend: velvets, mixed prints, pastel colorblocking, high-necked silk tops and dresses. But there wasn’t an overabundance of embellishment, or bells and whistles that are the mark of trendy fashion. As the Goldilocks tale goes, this collection was just right.
