How To Have A Beautiful, Stress-Free Purim

If you are like me, you keep seeing the products in the stores and promotions for Megillah readings and carnivals. You turn around and realize that Purim is just around the corner and you have packages, menus and costumes to prepare, and not enough time to get everything done!

Below are some no-fail solutions to make your Purim a success, and nobody has to feel as if you weren’t the perfect hostess or friend while fulfilling the Mitzvot of Purim.

Meet KosherBox.

Treats from KosherBox

This company delivers certified-Kosher, gourmet food, anywhere.

They have Purim boxes filled with the traditional goodies. Better yet, even last minute, they will deliver.

There are many choices of boxes to choose from. Non-Jewish clientele purchase boxes not only for holidays, but many non-Jewish customers order boxes for Shiva homes without questioning the laws of kashrut regardless of one’s dietary practices, according to Elazar Gabay of KosherBox.

All of the items are either OU certified or are certified by a Hashgacha accepted by the CRC.

Add Useful Art

I have some very special family and friends that I want to send a unique Mishloach manot baskets. These people simply have EVERYTHING. Enter Gilded in Leather by Fortune Chalme, creator of Gilded in Leather. She customizes matzah covers, pillow case and floral vase sets made from leather in a choice of colors, patterns and monograms.

According to Chalme, “When I first got married five years ago, I was eager to set up my home that represented my personal taste and style. When it came to Shabbat, however, I realized the Judaica that was available didn’t fit my modern/contemporarily designed table. I sought to change that. The Challah cover is the focal point of the Shabbat table, so I wanted to create something truly special and unique. I wanted to create something that did not exist. I wanted to push the boundaries of how a traditional challah cover was fabricated, so I created modern designs that I laser cut on leather and finished with elegant trimming.”

Keep Mishloach Manot Simple — And Fun

I fulfill our religious obligation to give two foods to at least two friends by packaging wine, a closed-box of matzah and some kosher-for-Passover sweets. It’s a nice change from all the Purim goodies we have to either rush to eat or give away.

Speaking of goodies, nothing is Purim more than hamantaschen. According to Breezy Schwartz, owner of Breezy’s Gift Shop, hamantaschen trends this year are “meal like” and savory.

“I’ve seen cheese with spinach, and pizza-inspired ones. Someone on Instagram is doing alcohol drink inspired ones. For a sweet tooth, lotus flavor is still trendy.”

Besides a full line of ready-made packages featuring Breezy’s line of designer collections, one can order baking cookie cutters and chocolate molds, parve baking needs and her line of gluten-free products. Breezy’s ships nationally.

Purim last minute can be fun, unique and make everyone feel like a queen, it thankful they know one. Chag Purim Sameach!

At a time when newsrooms are closing or cutting back, the Forward has removed its paywall. That means for the first time in our 126-year history, Forward journalism is free to everyone, everywhere. With an ongoing war, rising antisemitism, and a flood of disinformation that may affect the upcoming election, we believe that free and open access to Jewish journalism is imperative.

Readers like you make it all possible. Right now, we’re in the middle of our Passover Pledge Drive and we still need 300 people to step up and make a gift to sustain our trustworthy, independent journalism.
