In the latest stop of her pageantry tour as Maxim’s #1 “Top 100” girl, Bar Refaeli appears in a tiny black bikini on the cover of the magazine’s September issue, which also features a racy photo spread and interview for readers hungry to learn more about the Israeli supermodel. And boy, are they hungry! A People magazine guide advises mortals on how to successfully ask her out; the Global Grind exclaims “Holy abs!” and frat boys everywhere thank their good fortune.
It’s not the first time a female Israeli soldier has been photographed in a bikini, but it might be the first time that soldier had a gun strapped to her back. And for some reason, that weapon makes all the difference. Maxim’s spread of bikini-clad IDF soldiers got 69 Facebook likes in the five years since it’s been up; a grainy, faceless picture of a non-posed woman on a beach in Israel has gotten more than 3,000 likes from viewers on a variety of different sites.
Men say they appreciate the inner beauty of a woman, but it’s the outer kind that carries the day on Maxim’s new list of the world’s 100 hottest women. It is also evident that for this Maxim’s audience, beauty goes hand in hand with youth. Some of these women are awfully young, but thankfully there’s no jailbait on the list.
Running against billionaires like cosmetics heir Ron Lauder, Einat Wilf didn’t have much of a chance of winning the election to lead the World Jewish Congress, and ultimately she bowed out of the race. The former foreign policy adviser to Shimon Peres tells the blog Jewess that she had “no realistic expectation of winning,” but was rather running to promote certain ideas.
