הענרי געראָ איז געווען באַקאַנט פֿאַר זײַנע הומאָריסטישע לידער, וואָס האָבן געשילדערט — דווקא גאַנץ נעגאַטיוו — סײַ די מאָדערנע וועלט, סײַ די מענטשן וואָס וווינען אין דווקא אויף אַ נעגאַטיוון אופֿן. זײַן שוואַרצער הומאָר, אין אַזעלכע לידער ווי אַלץ פֿאַר געלט, שפּיגלט אָפּ אַן עכט־פּעסימיסטישן צוגאַנג צו דער וועלט וואָס איז דורכגעזאַפּט מיט ייִדישער איראָניע.

ענלעך איז זײַן ליד „אַ נײַע צײַט‟, וואָס מיר שטעלן אַרויף די וואָך לכּבֿוד דעם 50סטן יובֿל פֿונעם טאָג אין יולי 1969, ווען אַסטראָנויטן האָבן צום ערשטן מאָל געלאַנדעט אויף דער לבֿנה — אַ געשעעניש, וואָס ווערט אין דעם ליד דערמאָנט מיט הומאָר. עס זינגט צוזאַמען מיט אים זײַן פֿרוי ראָזיטע לאָנדאָנער, מיט וועמען ער האָט זיך באַקענט אין בוענאָס־אײַרעס, וווּ ער האָט זיך באַזעצט נאָך דער צווייטער וועלט־מלחמה.

געראָ איז געשטאָרבן אין 1980. זײַן אַלמנה ראָזיטע וווינט נאָך אַלץ אין בוענאָס־אײַרעס, איר צו לאַנגע יאָר.

אָט קען מען זען, ווי זי זינגט דאָס ליד „אַמאָל איז געווען אַ ייִד‟ אינעם אַרגענטינער פֿילם El Abrazo Partido (די פֿאַרלוירענע אַרומנעמונג).
